Overview
Section titled “Overview”The Valjean line of Light Freighters were a line of cheap, mass produced freighters with a flight life of 25 years. They were widely employed in dozens of systems in colonization projects, and were often derided as ‘Tin cans with fusion drives’ and ‘Mc Freighters’. The ubiquity of the ships make them popular with criminals as well as the transponders can be swapped and altered with relative ease. Intended to be used with a skeleton crew, a single pilot, or even autonomously, they are a common sight in any system.
History
Section titled “History”VJ-49269R was one of five hundred VJLTF’s bought by the Triton Armaments corporation Thirty years ago. It served without distinction ferrying explosive cargo through various systems before being scheduled for decommission and disposal in the Mars Phobos scrap facility. The ship was recorded as received, decommissioned, and destroyed twelve months ago.
Typical Uses/Mission
Section titled “Typical Uses/Mission”VJLTF’s are typically used to haul small loads of less than twenty tons. The VJ can handle any modular standing shipping container, latching on to it before ferrying it to its destination. It uses a robust fusion iron particle exhaust system to push itself and its heavy load and can double as a tug with proper rigging.
Features
Section titled “Features”The VJLTF offers little in amenities. It has a ‘bunkpit’ which doubles as living space and cockpit for up to four people. It serves prepackaged meals, has a basic gel hygiene unit, and a microgym for muscle retention. It was built for economy, not comfort.

Somber showed up in a jury rigged podship that by all rights should have smeared itself across spacetime at first jump. She presented fabricated credentials that spoofed customs and applied as a refugee from an unregistered failed colony.
