Her fur is a shiny black, long, and so incredibly soft. She’s typically seen dressed in a medic’s uniform or otherwise wearing something loose and flowing.
Genetic Mods
Section titled “Genetic Mods”Wolf Genetics
Section titled “Wolf Genetics”Ellie has a mostly standard/off the shelf gene-line. The net effect of her enhancements is some better senses of smell and hearing, a slight decrease in her sense of taste, and a fair boost in athleticis and endurance. She has had it tuned somewhat to produce softer fur. Her aim is to be the friendliest-looking first responder.

The system is intended to be used for medical emergencies.
Rescuers’ Sensor Suite
Section titled “Rescuers’ Sensor Suite”There are additional implants throughout her body focused on search, rescue, and diagnosing patients. Systems in her fingers can read pulses and some higher level cardiac functions. There are sensors and filters tied into her hearing to locate trapped victims. A tremor-sense system in her paws has been designed to locate people based on their steps impacting the ground.
History
Section titled “History”Ellie’s dad was a single man the day she was born. Her mom died during delivery. She doesn’t know the circumstances of it, it’s something her dad refused to talk about and she didn’t have it in her to pry. They were born to corporate rule in a system known as Gilded Sky. It was named for the golden-aura, nebular gases that gave off a faint glow in the outer system. It was anything but golden for Ellie.
Life in the Gilded Systm was rough. Her dad was a doctor, but he was indentured. He’d made a bad deal to afford her birth, to move his family to the system. It was a perpetual debt that he struggled to pay off. The demands grew higher each year, while expenses crew and his credits shrank. From an early day, Ellie did her best to help. She got a job far too young. Volunteered. Studied hard.
Life had to get better - not for her, but for her dad.
All the while she fought to ease her burden, her dad had taken on a worse deal. It was a surprise to her. A deal that would see her off to a better world. He knew if she stayed, she would one day find herself in the same trap as him. His life was already effectively over, she was all he lived for. If he spent his days a slave, she made it worth it, but only if she were truly free.
Ellie wanted to get into search and rescue. New Athens had the galaxy’s cutting-edge program, or so he told her. Maybe it did and maybe it didn’t. What mattered most was getting her there, where she had a chance to live a long and happy life. A life better than his.
Their parting was tearful, but she had passage. They exchanged messages for a while. His messages grew less and less frequent. When she worried, she reached out. He’d sold himself. Not just as an indentured servant. A deal that would see him all but a slave, and the proceeds bought her trip to New Athens, paid for her schooling.
For a time, depression took her. It crushed her soul to hear what he’d done, what her freedom had cost him. She’d been… so happy.
It wasn’t until she met Astrid that things got better. She started staying over with Bryn and soon joined the others. They had a plan. In time she could save up and buy her dad for less than he’d sold himself. They’d keep a track on him. It was just a matter of time.
In the interim, she doesn’t hear from him, but she sends messages. Always smiling and happy. She has to be happy for him.
At the moment, she works as part of the Poli Defense Force’s First Responders. It’s her job to rescue people. She knows how to shoot, but generally doesn’t want to. She’s stand-by crew for the Tachi, carried on some missions as an in-flight medic and deployable rescue operative. By parachute. Even from orbit.
