Kyle’s dream was to help people. Maybe it was too many comic books or too many cartoons. He saw the heroes on the screen, whether they were brave naval officers rushing into danger or actual super heroes saving planets. Deep down, Kyle wanted to be that some day.

Life doesn’t always take a course like that. Humanity’s many advances brought them the stars, but superman was still a work of fiction. In Kyle’s case, he was born with a disability. Spastic Hyplegia Cerebral Palsy. His family had cheap genetic engineering in the past and a few glitches slipped into his genome. He can’t walk. His arms aren’t the greatest either. He’s bound to mobility aids.

The real-world version of a super hero turned out to be an engineer. A local man, a former soldier and now an Engineer taught him the value of creating things. Of designing things that could change and save lives. He still dreams of being super man, but maybe he could settle for being an engineer like Mr. O’brien.

Kyle is a green fox with some mobility impairments. He’s usually dressed perhaps business casual or in very comfy - loose clothes. There are sometimes cuts in his clothes to work with his mobility aids. Over the decades he’s tried a few: Crutches, Mech Suits, and even disasterously a drone that tried to carry him ( Ms. Susan’s flowers haven’t been the same since).

There are known issues in Kyle’s DNA. He wasn’t supposed to be green, but he is. The cerebral palsy wasn’t in the plans either. He has a common-enough design, vulpine muzzle, ears, tail, and paws.

Kyle has an integrated brain-computer interface. This was all but required for the mech-suit aids he’s used. It allows him to connect to networks and equipment, as well as have integrated comms. His particular unit is loaded down with a fair collection of comic books.

Kyle’s spine was reinforced with carbon fiber and artificial cartillage to stave off a spinal fusion. Various small mods were placed throughout his body to help provide support and counteract some of the effects of being wheelchair bound.

The early years are a bit of a blur. Surgeries to correct genetic and spinal issues were a common experience. He missed some of his early schooling and his parents went into debt trying to give him the best shot at life they could. Even in New Athens, healthcare can come with struggles. He experimented with various ways of overcoming the limits on his body. A mech-suit that attempted to replace his limbs with mechanical appendages he wore worked ok - but he did crush his mom’s favorite baking pan. An attempt at using drones to carry him shredded his neighbor’s garden. His parents quickly learned their fox would get into mischief if left unsupervised.

It was hard to punish him for the drone idea. he wanted to be super man. Superman flies and he wanted to fly too.

In his teens, another neighbor started helping. A former soldier, now engineer, Mr. O’brien. He was one of the workers, he’d helped build the orbiting Parthenon. Over the years he attempted to prune out the destructive aspects of Kyle’s tinkering. It was taxing on his patience, but he held on. It was enough help to get Kyle into engineering college. And from there land him a job.

Now Kyle is an engineer on the Parthenon, just like Mr. O’brien had been. Moving into space freed him a tiny bit from his bad legs. While most of the Parthenon is under 1G of gravity- not all of it is. Kyle can live and work in the 0G sections, where his legs aren’t a problem. He can float and fly with minimal issues there. He even has magnetic grapples to help in the bigger rooms. Sometimes an EVA Thruster Pack.
