The Claw & Fang
The Claw & Fang is one of the biggest projects spearheaded by The Pack. Astrid realized that they would need some form of income and spearheaded what became an incredibly popular bar and steakhouse. This little place has become one of the best places to be.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”You approach a bar, it immediately gives off an ‘old fashioned’ feeling. The buiding’s facade is made of real wood - a rarity in this era. To the right sits two enormous windows offering a view inside. They’re slightly tinted and feature ornate paintwork. A trim-line around the exterior to create a frame, a painting of the wilderness, and fancy text saying ‘Claw’ on one window and ‘Fang’ on the other.
Left of the windows is the heavy double doors for the entrance. They feature ornate and quite old latch-style handles in brass. Eac has its own ornate window, styled to about the 1910s. This feels like stepping into an old-earth Frontier Saloon.
Guests enter a wide open space, there is no podium here: they can all seat themselves. To the left is a bar running along the wall and stretching to the back of the bar. On the right is all the open seating and on the right wall there is a small stage for performances. The walls have private-feeling booths and the tables in the center are all well spaced out.
Chandeliers hang at intervals, providing a relaxed and subdued lighting. The details are brass, wood, and black painted metal. It’s calm in here. The energy is a laid back place. Calm country music typically plays over the speakers. Some nights they put on faster music for a band, but on the whole this isn’t a party bar. This is a bar with style.
The walls are decorated with memorabillia from the frontier: pictures of Parthenon’s construction, landscapes of pre-colonization planets, early settlements, and pieces of equipment used by ships and constructors for reaching and building the colonies. It’s a celebration of the work that went into making this place.
The most prominent staffer is Bryn, a wolfess bartender. She maintains calm and order, alternating between bouncer and sympathetic ear. Many regard her as someone they can come to when they’re in trouble. Others find it strange for her to work at such a calm place when she herself is known to be a party animal.
Other staffers are her family from The Pack, mostly other canine-themed people, but there’s humans too. Very few of them are necessarily professionals at what they do. Bryn picks and hires people who need a job. The Claw & Fang’s status and popularity has helped elevate hundreds out of poverty and get them started on a good life.
History
Section titled “History”Simple Beginnings
Section titled “Simple Beginnings”The Pack formed from Bryn’s caring nature. She met other people who’d had some incredibly dark and horrific lives to that point. People who were questioning if life ever got better. They all carried their own scars and they all wanted to help each other. There was some recognized spark of shared misery and a shared desire to at least make life a little better for someone else. Most of them wouldn’t acknowledge their own suffering.
What started as help here and there, frequent meetings, and even wandering to the same places soon became more than that.
Astrid was the first to realize they should have a place. A place to help them survive. She started working to build out business opportunities. The first of them was building the Claw & Fang. Running a bar wasn’t necessarily easy, but there were fewer details and Bryn already knew how to throw a party. She had the nature, charisma, and aptitude to make it work.
They threw open the doors and built a reputation as one of the nicest bars in the system. They were popular, especially among the workers. A few corporatists even stopped in - they feel like they’re ‘hard workers’ for visiting a place like this. It provided prosperity and financial security to the young group of upstarts.
The MYSTICAL Claw & Fang
Section titled “The MYSTICAL Claw & Fang”There is a running Role Play room in the server: The Claw & Fang - Casual Hangout
This room is set up like Star Trek’s “Captain’s Table”, it is a bar that is available everywhere. It is set up so that characters in any location can end up in the same bar for a casual hang out. The events in this location are more loosely cannon. It is a roleplay location where there is some measure of flexibility and fluidity.
